ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to strengthen our team in Portugal.
The selected candidate will be integrated into a unit that currently consists of approximately 40 employees with the expectation of high annual growth and will become the direct supervisor of a team of 5-7 people. The Engineering Manager is expected to help the company execute its strategy for significant growth in the coming years by acting as a technical counselor to make sure that the IT solutions developed meet the client's business needs, leading and guiding our engineering team, optimizing our processes and methods to create a high-quality development flow and planning and controlling all Engineering initiatives for Portugal and Spain. As an Engineering Manager, you are expected to work closely with our teams and build strong relationships with all levels of the organization, from engineering to C-level.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Engineering team in Portugal.
- Work closely with other engineering units inside the organization to solve problems across our platforms and plan engineering initiatives.
- Collaborate with Delivery, Commercial unit, and Executive leadership to set the overall strategic direction for engineering.
- Be an advocate for agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Act as a Senior Solution Specialist, that can support projects (or leads) in any country regarding digital transformation and complex system architectures.
- Support the Delivery team in translating the scope, strategy, and requirements into an executable technical roadmap for our clients.
- Support the specification, architecture, and implementation of large e-commerce solutions.
- Manage resource allocation, bookings, and work planning related to projects, always aligning with the other units across the organization.
- Measure and control important KPIs for the Engineering unit (utilization rate, billable rate, etc) making status and results reports to internal steering groups.
- Be the direct supervisor with personnel responsibilities to the Engineering team in Portugal (Scrum Masters, Tech Leads, and Team Leads)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- At least 7 years of experience working in the IT industry
- Technical background as a developer
- Experience analyzing dataflows, IT systems, processes, architecture and/or governance and providing solutions to clients
- Experience working in e-commerce or digital transformation projects
- Experience in Salesforce or Composable Projects is a plus.
- Experience in managing teams and resource allocation
- Experience in building bridges with different units, including collaboration between sales, engineering, client, and delivery
- Strong knowledge and experience in agile project management methodologies
- Experience in an agency/consultancy environment
- Experience in participating in steering committees meetings and presenting status and results reports
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities simultaneously, coordinating across different teams
- Great problem-solving skills, with a solution-focused mindset and the ability to negotiate with a variety of different teams in order to deliver on time
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Available to travel monthly (inside Portugal and abroad)
- Fluent in English written and spoken
